Happy New Year 2021 and Lockdown 2

I hope it is not to late to wish everybody a Happy New Year 2021. I just want to share some photos of amazing nightscape of Shah Alam facing the Masjid Sultan Salahuddin with view of the moon in the sky. I took the photos last year. Some photos were taken at different nights. Today, my blog post is short and I wish everybody out there a Happy and Healthy New Year. May Allah keep all of us and our family under his protection from the virus and calamities and everything gets better this year. Ameen. Stay safe and stay at home. Life is short.

Fireworks and Happy New Year 2012

When the clock ticked 12.00 am, I was ready with a camera to capture picture of firewooks celebrating New Year 2012 at my relative apartment which overlooking spectacular view of Shah Alam. To my disappointment there was no big fireworks from Dataran Shah Alam this year, except for some small fireworks coming from individual residential houses. I could see fireworks as far as from KLCC There was probably big fireworks being displayed at ICT Shah Alam, but I could not see them from the apartment.

I have to remind myself, everyday and every minute death is getting closer and it could be today, tomorrow or next year . Things that happened in the past whether last year or yesterday or just now were things that you cannot grasp anymore and you cannot change them. They are things you leave behind and you move on but death is getting closer to you every minute.

Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given (full) compensation on the Day of Resurection. So he is drawn away from the Fire an admitted to Paradise has attained (his desire) And what is the life of this world except the delusion.( Al Quran, Surat Al-Imran :185)

Say "Death, from which you are fleeing, will certainly catch up with you. Then you will be returned to the Knower of the Unseen and the Visible and He will inform you about what you did"

New Year and New York

I have been out of blogosphere for months and I am back. Many apologies to any regular readers I may have. Keeping up with the blogosphere have become difficult for me lately and I hope I will write more posts next year 2012, which is just around the corner, insyallah. Life is too short and here come New Year 2012 and good bye 2011.

For today post, I want to share some night photos of New York city. I remember it was difficult for me to take good night photos especially when trying to figure out the right setting of the shutter speed and f no. for night mode, things that not in my lists during a trip. I still have many photos of Rome to share but it has to wait.

New York brings back memory of winter and New Year. I went to visit New York on a study trip about two weeks before Christmas day. Many of my fellow coursemates went shopping for Christmas presents during the trip. The last day of the trip, my friends and I went to Macy Store to shop, just few hours before we should be back at YMCA hotel to board a bus to take us to JFK Airport for our flight back to Glasgow that night. We had almost missed our bus when we were stuck in the train. The train stopped for more than 15 minutes before resuming back to normal to the next station, one more stop before our destination. We got off from the train, afraid it would stop again, ran for some blocks like mad people on New York streets that night, amidst the wailing police sirens to catch our bus. New York would not be New York without those sirens. For information, New York subway is one of the oldest and busiest rapid rail systems in the world. Finally, we reached the hotel just before the bus was about to leave. Whenever I watch the Amazing Race, it brings back those memories and I know how the contestants must have felt, the adrenaline rush and thrill.

I miss New York city and maybe I vist it again one day, insyallah. To everybody and all readers out there Happy New Year 2012 in Advance and may all you wishes come true.

Shah Alam - Mesmerizing view

I used my nephew's camera Nikon DX Digital SLR 50mm Camera to take photos of the night view of Shah Alam. It took me a while before I got the hang of it.Too many menus, sub menus and settings for me to figure it out and choose and I did not have manual with me to refer to.I am used to my old Yashica SLR 50mm manual camera. That was the good old days of film. All I need to do is just set the shutter speeds and aperture and I am ready to go. I have to say that I am from the old school. Sometimes technologies just drive you nuts and complexity of digital camera is one of them .

The night view of Shah Alam is amazing from the apartment. The view of the Masjid in the night setting is so mesmerizing. What is more amazing and interesting, you can see The Petronas Twin Towers and the Menara KL in the background. The Petronas Twin Towers were the tallest building in the world for six years from 1998 to 2004, until Taipei 101 was completed in 2004 and surpassed their height. Now the tallest building in the world is Burj Khalifa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates after gaining the title this year in April 2010. It measures 828m in height.
